Welcome From the Headmaster
Welcome to Charleston Day School! Each of us in the Charleston Day School community is pleased to introduce you to our school. We are a unique school, serving students in grades 1-8 on an urban campus located in the heart of historic Charleston, South Carolina. Our student body of approximately 180 students thrives in this personal environment where all the students and faculty members know one another. Charleston Day focuses on the primary, elementary and middle school years, and our program prepares students for the eventual challenges of high school, college, graduate school, and life.
Since its inception in 1937, Charleston Day School has provided a rigorous academic experience for its students. The small environment ensures students are pushed to their fullest capabilities at all levels. In addition, the care and attention of an exceptional faculty ensure that students are supported in an appropriate manner. The environment is wholesome and pleasant. Students and faculty enjoy being at Charleston Day because the relationships here are positive and deep. Alumni continually comment on the lasting nature of the numerous friendships they formed at Charleston Day School.
The mission of Charleston Day School is to foster scholarship, integrity, respect and responsibility in our students. This straightforward mission provides direction for each member of the school community and reminds us that academic development shares equal billing with the formation of character and integrity in our youngest generation. We take our mission seriously as it guides us in our daily lives at Charleston Day.
We invite you to come see us at 15 Archdale Street. Come meet our teachers and students; watch them in action. You will find Charleston Day School to be a welcoming, engaging and impressive environment. We look forward to meeting you and sharing our school with you.
