star Reading program

As part of our reading assessment strategy, Charleston Day School administers the STAR Reading Program at least one time per semester. The STAR Program assessment is a computerized testing system that helps determine the reading level of each student and measures both individual and class growth through a test that takes approximately ten minutes to complete.

This helps to identify students who excel at reading, as well as those who need further assistance, which helps all students reach their full academic potential.

STAR Reading software runs on a web-based server which can be accessed by any computer on our network in a way similar to accessing a web site on the Internet.

Assessment data is presented to teachers in various formats, allowing them to share pertinent information with parents, including suggestions for increasing reading comprehension.

Both STAR Reading and Accelerated Reader are products created and maintained by Renaissance Learning.
