Individual tours allow families to have their specific questions answered and provide an opportunity for us to learn more about you and your child.
We’re delighted that your family is interested in learning more about Charleston Day School. We hope you will join us for one of our Open Houses, “The CDS Experience”. You are able to register for “The CDS Experience” online.
During one of these events you will hear from school leadership, current students, and teachers, all while learning more about our rich curricular programs and established traditions that make our K-8 experience uniquely Charleston Day. Open Houses are not required, but strongly recommended.
Submit an application online at charlestonday.org along with a $75.00 application fee. Kindergarten Applications are due by January 1st for the February 7th notification; 1st-8th grade applications are due by February 1st to be considered for the March 7th notification.
Assessments will be given beginning in December for Kindergarten applicants and beginning in January for applicants for grades 1-8. Charleston Day School assesses applicants in a one-on-one setting with our individualized grade level assessments. Applications must be submitted before assessments are scheduled. As well as the one-onone, students will be asked to come to a Saturday session in January or February, based on your child’s age for a 45 min group assessment.
A student interview with Middle School Head and Head of School is required for applicants applying to grades 7 and 8. We view your child’s education as a partnership, and we believe it is important to meet with you to understand your family’s values and expectations for your child’s educational experience. Our goal is to admit students who can contribute to and benefit from the advantages offered by a CDS education. Parent interviews may take place during the individual tour or at another time during the admission process. Student interviews are conducted as a part of their assessment.
Admission decisions communicated to Kindergarten families: Friday, February 3rd
Admission decisions communicated to 1st-8th grade families: Friday, March 10th.
