My favorite physical science unit covers the periodic table. After attempting to make their own periodic tables by analyzing patterns on “mystery” cards, students learn the rules that govern the modern periodic table and discover how and why it is arranged the way it is. The pre-exploration piece of the unit makes the tricky concept more accessible and memorable for students!
