Students Study Erosion

February 25

Second graders combined their studies of earth processes and properties of matter to design a structure that would prevent the erosion of a model beach. They were given a budget of “$200” to buy supplies, and then their beaches underwent two different tests in our garden: rain (sprinkler) and storm surge (making waves). The students observed and recorded how much sand eroded from each beach into the “ocean” at the bottom of the paint tray. Great work!
