Tucked behind the gates at 15 Archdale Street, sits Charleston Day School, a vibrant learning community with established educational partnerships throughout Charleston. Our faculty is known for its commitment to academic rigor and student success, and our curriculum is rooted in more than 85 years of tradition yet committed to remaining at the forefront of education.
Here, we make time. Time to be curious, to discover and to build friendships. In a world that moves at lightning speed, Charleston Day is a school where children can love learning and grow into the best versions of themselves.
Our graduates often comment about the smooth transition to high school and college. The study skills, organizational habits, and public speaking lay a foundation for success after 8th grade. Our students shake hands, look you in the eye, and contribute to a broader conversation.
Visit our campus during a school day to see our teachers and students in action. Please contact the Admission Office or attend an Admission event. You will find a place that is welcoming, engaging and energizing. Welcome to Charleston Day.
Here at Charleston Day, we build relationships. Teachers ask questions; they know student interests and strengths. Coaches listen closely, and we attend games to cheer on students. With small classes, no one gets lost, and everybody can find a voice. Small class sizes and exceptional teacher-student ratios enable our educators to help students take intellectual risks, develop confidence in their abilities, and shape their identities as individuals.
Charleston Day School is defined by its mission of developing the qualities of scholarship, integrity, respect and responsibility in our students. In our halls, we choose kindness.
These are the rules we live by.
Ending their time at Charleston Day School in the eighth grade creates opportunities for our oldest students to lead and mentor. Eighth graders, with the guidance of our Director of High School Placement, identify their strengths, interests and goals as they move through the high school counseling process.
