One-on-one assessments will be given beginning in December for Kindergarten applicants and beginning in January for applicants for grades 1-8. Charleston Day School assesses applicants in a one-on-one setting with our individualized grade level assessments. A student interview with our Middle School Head and/or Head of School is required for applicants applying to grades 7 and 8. We view your child’s education as a partnership, and we believe it is important to meet with you to understand your families values and expectations for your child’s educational experience. Our goal is to admit students who can contribute to and benefit from the advantages offered by a CDS education. Parent interviews may take place during the tour or at another time during the admission process. Student interviews are conducted as a part of their assessment. The Admission Committee carefully evaluates each candidate on the basis of admissions tests, teacher recommendations, and previous academic records.
Admission decisions will be communicated to Kindergarten families in early February 2025.
Admission decisions for families of grades 1-8 will be emailed in early March 2025.
Applications received and completed after the deadline will be considered on a rolling basis and will be notified typically within 2-3 weeks of completing the application process.
