On May 1 as part of a culminating project for the eighth graders involving research, writing, art and public speaking, Charleston Day’s eighth graders became junior docents at the Gibbes Museum of Art, sharing their wealth of knowledge about artworks and artists to their parents and museum-goers. Last week, they presented to lower school students who walked over to the Gibbes. This partnership with the museum is a valued one, offering wonderful exposure to the arts and art history. Artists discussed today included Alice Ravenel Huger Smith, Hiroshige, Ogden M. Pleissner, Anna Hyatt Huntington, Jonathan Green, and many more.
