Meet our Team: Laurin Shealy (’82)

as the middle school math teacher, What do you enjoy most about your job?

I love teaching the same students in both seventh and eighth grades.  The growth I witness over those two years is amazing.

as a Charleston day alumna, what was your favorite CDS tradition?

That would definitely be having the red team and blue team. I was on the red team, and I still remember which team everyone in my class was on. We did almost everything divided into those two teams.

What is your favorite book?

The absolute best book I have ever read is To Kill a Mockingbird.  I love everything about it.  I read it again about every two years.

Who is your hero and why? 

My hero is my dad. He was a kind, funny, God-fearing man.  He adored my mom and was an example of the type of husband I wanted to find.

What is your favorite vacation spot?

My favorite vacation spot is Disney World!  My family can’t get enough.
