Charleston Day Scorpion Yearbook Receives Recognition
Jostens’ yearbook program recognized The Charleston Day Scorpion Yearbook 2022-2023 and its staff as a dynamic and engaging yearbook. Jostens, the leading producer of yearbooks and student-created content, announced that CDS’s yearbook program has achieved the Jostens 2023 National Yearbook Program of Excellence award at the Bronze Level. The National Yearbook Program of Excellence recognizes engaging yearbooks that reflect a broad representation of the student body while helping students develop 21st century skills such as communication, collaboration, and information and communication technologies (ICT) literacy.
Designing and editing the Charleston Day yearbook is the responsibility of the students in the yearbook elective. Middle school students in the 7th and 8th grades choose from a variety of elective classes. Elective offerings change each quarter and are based on student and teacher interests. They allow students to delve deeper into an area that is a change of pace from traditional academic offerings while still reinforcing core skills.
Students might have choices like puzzle and game play or the history of cinema. The yearbook offering is reserved specifically for 8th graders. It is a privilege to be a part of the yearbook team because it is a way to create a permanent memory of a student’s time at Charleston Day. Congratulations to Ms. Sharpe, Mr. Getter, and the 8th grade yearbook staff on their achievement!
